Cosmology is usually defined as the science of the origin of the development of the universe. As we’re beginning to see, every religion with surviving literature gives there own account of this beginning. It will be our task to provide you with a synopsis of these cosmologies, anchored in their historical context.
We’ve seen how Greeks writers were ready to accept a foreign influence on their gods, especially from Egypt. And the last episode we provided a toe-in-the-water’s touch on the Greek cosmologies given by Hesiod, Plato, and the Roman poet, Ovid. Now let’s review what we know about Babylonian and Mesopotamian cosmology.
